Dakota has been taking a few steps here and there, but not really interested in venturing off on his own. He would rather grab our finger and direct us to where he would like to go. Well on Friday evening, Monty set him down on the floor and he walked about five steps. We were both amazed. I knew he would be walking by the end of the weekend. I was right! Sunday evening he took off from the living room into the kitchen and back, without falling. It didn't scare him at all. I think he was pretty excited to have the independence. I was just excited that he finally hit a developmental milestone at a normal rate. Of course he still wants to take us by the finger and take us somewhere.
Dakota is learning so much! It is so fun to watch him do new things and master new skills. He is really smart, so keeping him busy keeps me sane and him getting into trouble. His new skills include: waving, droping objects behind him, picking out a dog in every picture, looking for a dog after hearing a barking dog, babbling on the telephone, bringing objects that he is asked to bring, and putting pegs/shapes/small objects in appropriate places. His hobbies include: eating raisins, loving on our dog Jenny and following Daddy everywhere. Daddy just does the funniest things and came make a noise out of everything.
I can't wait for his first birthday. We get to turn his carseat around, he gets his first haircut and we taking him to a petting zoo.
